Strategic Ecosystem Mapping in Brazil

A method for mapping actors, value chains, territories, dependencies and strategic tensions as one evolving system.

OPERATING DEFINITION

What we mean when we use this term.

Strategic ecosystem mapping models a consequential context as a network of organizations, people, institutions, territories, activities, resources, technologies and evidence. The objective is not a static stakeholder map, but an inspectable representation of dependencies, flows and tensions that can be updated as the ecosystem changes.

METHOD
  1. 01Bound the strategic question and productive system
  2. 02Model the value chain and critical activities
  3. 03Resolve organizations and institutional actors
  4. 04Place the ecosystem in territory
  5. 05Map ownership, trade and higher-order relations
  6. 06Connect signals, tensions and implications

LIMITATIONS

What this approach does not promise.

A map is always a model of a bounded question. Coverage, source quality and temporal lag must remain visible so that absence of evidence is not mistaken for evidence of absence.
