RESEARCH ARTIFACT · Evidence instrument

Signal Explorer

A signal surface organized by industry, geography, evidence class, strength and confidence, with explicit links to trends and inquiries.

WHAT THIS ARTIFACT DEMONSTRATES

A weak signal is more useful when it is treated as an attributed observation rather than a news item. Strength and confidence remain separate, and each signal retains its evidence and relationships.

METHOD
  1. Capture an observation
  2. Attach source and evidence class
  3. Resolve entities, geography and industry
  4. Score signal strength separately from confidence
  5. Connect supporting and contradictory trends
  6. Trigger an inquiry when the observation changes what should be investigated
