Movement and confidence are different numbers
A trend score says how much something is changing. A confidence score says how much the evidence lets you claim it. Merging them produces a number that means nothing.
MINERVA computes TrendScore from six dimensions: scientific momentum, technology momentum, industrial adoption, capital commitment, market evidence and regulatory pressure. Each event type feeds the dimensions it can speak to, and no single loud source can inflate a dimension it cannot.
Confidence is computed separately, from breadth, corroboration and the independence of evidence classes. A trend supported by twelve trade-press articles and nothing else has high movement and low confidence. A trend supported by patents, papers and a final investment decision has both.
Reporting them side by side lets a reader see the difference between a story and a change.
